The Stock Exchange of Thailand announces the names of 98 sustainable stocks in year 2005. 'Resources Industry Group' has been listed on the list of the top 19 companies

Mr. Pakorn Petthawatchai Director and Manager The Stock Exchange of Thailand disclosed that the stock exchange focusing on the vision of capital market development to benefit all sectors 'To Make the Capital Market 'Work' for Everyone' with an aim to create an ecosystem of sustainable investment from promoting the companies to conduct business with due regard to the environment, society and corporate governance. (Environment, Social, Governance: ESG) to create a list of sustainable stocks to be an alternative for investors who want to invest in businesses that value ESG.

'The Stock Exchange of Thailand Has made a list of sustainable stocks continuously since 2015. For this year, there are 98 companies that have been selected to list the sustainable stocks which increased from 51 listed companies in 2015, reflecting that Thai listed companies have increased their focus on ESG in business processes. This year there is an improvement in the formulation of visions and policies to promote innovation within the organization and participation in solving the Climate Change problem by increasing energy efficiency in business processes, as well as disclosing social and environmental policies and operations to stakeholders.

In the past, the SET encouraged listed companies to participate in the sustainability assessment to find out the status of ESG operations, including information for development and improvement of business operations in accordance with sustainable development guidelines.

It also encourages listed companies to disclose more sustainability information so that investors can use information to make investment decisions in line with the Responsible Investment approach, 'said Mr. Pakorn.

The listed companies in the list of sustainable stocks in 2019 came from the most resource industry groups, 19 companies, followed by companies in the real estate and construction industry. Industrial products and services for 15 companies in each group. In addition, listed companies that were selected on the list of new sustainable stocks this year come from the agricultural and food industry groups and the service groups, which are the groups that have been selected to list the most sustainable stocks, where the listed companies in the list of 98 sustainable companies with market capitalization of 11,314,328 million baht as of 15 October 2019, representing 65.26% of the market value of the securities.

The list of sustainable stocks selected from companies that participated in the sustainability assessment form Which consists of 19 questions covering the economic dimension (Including Corporate Governance) Society and Environment by focusing on the evaluation of the sustainability process Which consists of policy formulation Setting goals, implementing policies, measuring results from operations and disclosure of company information. The companies to be listed on the list of sustainable stocks must pass a score of 50 percent in all dimensions or be selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) in the year that the assessment is completed and meets the criteria set by the Stock Exchange of Thailand, such as the CGR report quality, net profitability and shareholders' equity. Supervision on issues related to the qualifications of listed companies and the lack of environmental, social, and governance impacts, etc. with a working group for sustainable investment to scrutinize for transparency throughout the process.

In addition, the list of sustainable stocks is also used as a basis for calculating the SETTHSI index in order to promote investment in sustainable stocks that operate in an environmentally, socially and socially responsible manner, with a semi-annually review.
